Dr. Kodres re-launches edX course on financial regulation on Oct 4 – FREE registration now open

The GCFP’s goal to provide a forum for discussion among policymakers, financial professionals, and educators will be aided by the online MITx course “Financial Regulation: From the Global Financial Crisis to Fintech and the COVID Pandemic” to re-launch on October 4, 2023 on the edX platform.

This course will provide the underpinning rationale for financial regulation and evaluate the post-Global Financial Crisis reforms in this light, noting adaptions that were required due to systemic nature of the crisis and the need to ensure private sector compliance. It then applies these rationales and lessons learned to current topics in fintech and the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The targeted audience includes financial professionals, elected officials, regulators and central bankers and anyone with an interest how financial reforms have affected their lives.

The course is taught by former Senior Distinguished Fellow for the GCFP, Dr. Laura E. Kodres, drawing on a similar course taught at the Sloan School of Management and her 24-year career at the International Monetary Fund, where she influenced the IMF’s advice on global financial regulation and macroprudential policies.
